Have bot been able to use my left hand for 5 weeks now. I did manage to find some things I could do with one hand.<br />
<br />
One of them was sort out all my boxes of small bits and pieces . I dug up some old hutches and started altering some things and then filling new hutches with stuff I found. I had fun with it and I like to show the results of my one handed crafting just in case there are others who need some inspiration .<br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
This is what a friend brought me after a visit to a flea market. A little wooden kitchen.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvrgAzM5oNE-utI29I8CsCSLy6K7tSXkQxTq7POXoEAEqSl9Ykv7PuVSwBG-8fgk1j4n16_Di2UiYZtrikF1zwtVyOXyLUgwV6Xcy67trCu2cKQxlD8lhWpxhp53rg9rHe6v_cQKlPIMk/s1600/18557515_805560256269084_5517055318284923129_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="720" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvrgAzM5oNE-utI29I8CsCSLy6K7tSXkQxTq7POXoEAEqSl9Ykv7PuVSwBG-8fgk1j4n16_Di2UiYZtrikF1zwtVyOXyLUgwV6Xcy67trCu2cKQxlD8lhWpxhp53rg9rHe6v_cQKlPIMk/s640/18557515_805560256269084_5517055318284923129_n.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I had big trouble painting it because the marker dots and strips in the wood kept showing up. In the end I used spray paint. The frame came with it and it was very uneven and no amount of sanding would help.<br />
I covered it with crumpled tissue paper and painted it white.<br />
<br />
<br />

<br />
I wanted it to look like a messy kitchen where there is a lot going on.<br />
<br />
The oven is just a picture decoupaged on but with the metal handle and the cloth it looks pretty good.<br />
<br />
<br />
To get the idea of a sink I glued a small tray filled with dirty dishes where the sink would have been.<br />
<br />
I had to have a broken coffee cup for that is a regular thing in my kitchen. I cut up a plastic cup and the coffee is glass paint.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYIh_tBkWDxAB4nM-jBWRfV5lm6tiQwJWIQ-aBCYzGFldMKWErVzDa5JPb1dCwH_0VieDfZccnHuRG-HjlvvODK1gG8-n3k2PAIE-YNerjrLG8TVRFDDijEXWsMuLImeIf2cWOoYcZp2M/s1600/DSC02912.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="586" data-original-width="604" height="387" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYIh_tBkWDxAB4nM-jBWRfV5lm6tiQwJWIQ-aBCYzGFldMKWErVzDa5JPb1dCwH_0VieDfZccnHuRG-HjlvvODK1gG8-n3k2PAIE-YNerjrLG8TVRFDDijEXWsMuLImeIf2cWOoYcZp2M/s400/DSC02912.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Work in progress trying out different things.<br />
<br />
Added crochet potholders and a handmade notice board and lot of stuff from my boxes of mini stuff. I also made some mini bread and veggies.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQ_v2JMvS9WHPXVsRl_mydRgq7r6Q1Xsz8sBmDHJDfPqqyDmHXcxmVpVEphb5XmjPVmusKX9eRxss0D5At_JxMyMqDsBcdJi9Hn2R4YMYJJpexdZXrh_ZPKR0T7QmPdmkxKAspEjHnSTY/s1600/DSC02946+%25281%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="833" data-original-width="825" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQ_v2JMvS9WHPXVsRl_mydRgq7r6Q1Xsz8sBmDHJDfPqqyDmHXcxmVpVEphb5XmjPVmusKX9eRxss0D5At_JxMyMqDsBcdJi9Hn2R4YMYJJpexdZXrh_ZPKR0T7QmPdmkxKAspEjHnSTY/s640/DSC02946+%25281%2529.JPG" width="632" /></a></div>
All finished . It now resides in the kitchen.<br />

<br />
I made this Christmas market stall this week as a donation for the local Hobby Center's Christmas fair. I 'd like to share some tips about how I made this.<br />

I started with this kit from the dollar store, It is basically a MDF kit with decoupage paper to decorate it with. I chose not to use the paper for my stall.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So this is what I started with.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWJxXVp3MKnkQifI0UMsIA6OjaUnqq43gzPWnvjXQkgrsRC3_ImPqWS-tH1H5vw2X2fPgc5xvmmdawf_H031A585AE9rIsB0SrEslLjqLJOgnVjTl_igrs7fUEkMqrYpjD4xUhlLoj8yY/s1600/DSC02803.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="833" data-original-width="1111" height="298" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWJxXVp3MKnkQifI0UMsIA6OjaUnqq43gzPWnvjXQkgrsRC3_ImPqWS-tH1H5vw2X2fPgc5xvmmdawf_H031A585AE9rIsB0SrEslLjqLJOgnVjTl_igrs7fUEkMqrYpjD4xUhlLoj8yY/s400/DSC02803.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Painted the inside white so it would not be too dark inside .<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhY-MKhV0lwJkXHjYhjB2GQk6KBt0UG02xxZgFXHemyljlR8cCFED_hBRlxdI9AceAWakF6o0Gy2HOtsnM358uuMKcvLanzNDqX9oROSN4CZk0remUcTXOhKyYwjMFy2D7bx3key0s0Nuo/s1600/DSC02805.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="833" data-original-width="1093" height="303" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhY-MKhV0lwJkXHjYhjB2GQk6KBt0UG02xxZgFXHemyljlR8cCFED_hBRlxdI9AceAWakF6o0Gy2HOtsnM358uuMKcvLanzNDqX9oROSN4CZk0remUcTXOhKyYwjMFy2D7bx3key0s0Nuo/s400/DSC02805.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEils5NlaoGR5w6kH8dYLRv-40hXf3ePSCd51BN6rYR9kZxqlCO9jP4-T6oJ_C_SNHqtsZCH6mKZBz3-x2lLqcd4Q_YE9dIt5drXI7msa_lqR42ANlxTwLsHRZVvJ8qmtgHZkfTQ7F1DHtU/s1600/DSC02812.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="833" data-original-width="1111" height="476" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEils5NlaoGR5w6kH8dYLRv-40hXf3ePSCd51BN6rYR9kZxqlCO9jP4-T6oJ_C_SNHqtsZCH6mKZBz3-x2lLqcd4Q_YE9dIt5drXI7msa_lqR42ANlxTwLsHRZVvJ8qmtgHZkfTQ7F1DHtU/s640/DSC02812.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Wanted the outside to look like wood. I painted it white with a nasty old brush to get a striped effect and then I repeated the process with a brown color, Rubbed it with a little dark brown paint and varnished the whole thing and put it together. I painted the roof white so it would help to make the snow look good.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1_aiBoBYjaekDs6ntDBi449vD6YZT5_qBu0HTpQNuKWy5QnmsCzA2DI2P15QhA0YBPoPDhFKiEjoJAwaeKiaojVYFxLGN22CBMqZ9ovuajjbf19SkkS35-R34BSREbsRzYP5-3l7rkMY/s1600/DSC02837.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="833" data-original-width="1111" height="476" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1_aiBoBYjaekDs6ntDBi449vD6YZT5_qBu0HTpQNuKWy5QnmsCzA2DI2P15QhA0YBPoPDhFKiEjoJAwaeKiaojVYFxLGN22CBMqZ9ovuajjbf19SkkS35-R34BSREbsRzYP5-3l7rkMY/s640/DSC02837.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I did not add the base yet for it would be easier to get into the shop through the bottom to fill it up. I added the shelves and filled them with snowmen and Santa's. Some bought, some that I made myself and some gifts etc.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQQq0ak0Zu4W-RxiT6FMXpAOjtlLu4g0Tqz8n0he0m2kdZHufgrvDZ-7F4Fm2665nmWDMNPfdA2xS1QJ1xDUk8EjJ8ys_Wkm7UsTpV7B9tbK1ZGXPJSky-0yDaIEnJX85uLDTg2jhu-7U/s1600/DSC02848+%25281%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="833" data-original-width="652" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQQq0ak0Zu4W-RxiT6FMXpAOjtlLu4g0Tqz8n0he0m2kdZHufgrvDZ-7F4Fm2665nmWDMNPfdA2xS1QJ1xDUk8EjJ8ys_Wkm7UsTpV7B9tbK1ZGXPJSky-0yDaIEnJX85uLDTg2jhu-7U/s640/DSC02848+%25281%2529.JPG" width="500" /></a></div>
<br />
The snow is powered snow from a bag, glued on the roof and base. The icicles are made from a clear plastic fork. You cut off the tips of the prongs and glue them to the roof. Then apply some clear glue to make them look a little bit irregular like the real thing and you can add some micro glitter as well.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here it is with everything in place. The base was not included in the kit .But I felt it added a little something.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<br />
My friend Phyllis surprised me with this lovely birthday gift. It was the very first time I received a mini scene that was handmade specially for me so it is really special to me.<br />
<br />
The pretty box frame is about 8 by 9 1/2 inches so you can imagine how tiny all the items are. Phyllis loves to work in the smaller scales and I am always in awe about her patience.<br />
<br />
The wooden items like the planters filled with holiday items are made from incredibly tiny kits by Liz West. The same goes for the reindeer, shelves , penguins and signs . You have to paint all the tiny items yourself !<br />
<br />
https://www.taffyandme.com is the link to Liz's website. She has lost the pics of some of her items but she will be happy to share PDF 's if your are interested while she is working on the site.<br />
<br />
This photo shows the parts of the planter kits and the wreath.<br />

Some of the decorations on the back wall have been made using shrink plastic. For those who have never tried that : It is a kind of plastic sheet that you can draw on with permanent markers ( some types you can use in a printer too) and color with markers or pencils. The fun thing is, you cut out your drawing and put it in the oven where it shrinks down to a mini version.<br />

I think the little scene is a perfect gift for someone who does not have a lot of room for Christmas decorations , perhaps an elderly relative or friend. You can of course make it in any scale you like. A 12 th scale or 24 th scale version would be lovely too or perhaps a micro scale version in a tiny tin .<br />
Hope this will inspire you to make something fun.<br />
<br />
And once again: Thank you so much, Phyllis.<br />

No trip for me this year so I had to find something else to get some of that holiday feeling. I saw a beach scene in a tin and that inspired me. Just a beach is not enough for me so I added a bit of landscape as well. Here is how I did it.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is the tin I used, It was the only kind I could find around here. There were tiny sweets in it. The size is very nice to work with 6 cm by 3 cm. But the tin is really very shallow : just 1 cm deep. That leaves very little room for the stuff to go inside. I actually broke the hinge trying some things for size. So if you can find a deeper tin go for it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-LMkF6uu5VBtCGmnpI0WU3CRMEl5HTHCX5kIp7m-4CS901yu3INPTMPJPJ5Fud-2iKVsV6bzb0S-9MQ0v7Vj3O0pQNu1Lv2yrF2l4ONS6kd2-8_jNopuhIqstD5aZA7J9qzJplyV5dZs/s1600/DSC01875.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1529" data-original-width="1600" height="305" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-LMkF6uu5VBtCGmnpI0WU3CRMEl5HTHCX5kIp7m-4CS901yu3INPTMPJPJ5Fud-2iKVsV6bzb0S-9MQ0v7Vj3O0pQNu1Lv2yrF2l4ONS6kd2-8_jNopuhIqstD5aZA7J9qzJplyV5dZs/s320/DSC01875.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Here is step 1 : trying out the clay that will become the beach base. You can use any type of clay . I used air drying clay because I happened to have some but you can use Fimo and bake the whole thing.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLJl8KdRfbM3mkFV57I0Ag5d-B9Ohq1d4LJxlHqIW2B3lAs8t0A15BvqE0TRzaExwPHRXsrv9ilGAFtD4f60C3wV_qviTich_T8sPedwSpmyqAYiZvd7j17C-hML3EpWAuA-CjGxff1as/s1600/DSC01880.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1269" data-original-width="1119" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLJl8KdRfbM3mkFV57I0Ag5d-B9Ohq1d4LJxlHqIW2B3lAs8t0A15BvqE0TRzaExwPHRXsrv9ilGAFtD4f60C3wV_qviTich_T8sPedwSpmyqAYiZvd7j17C-hML3EpWAuA-CjGxff1as/s400/DSC01880.JPG" width="352" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
Step 2 .When the clay was dry I painted it a very pale sand colour and sprinkled some sand on it. ( use craft sand or bird cage sand). I painted the see area in acrylic paints. Used blue and white. the sea is lighter in color near the beach so that will give the best look. Paint the sea with Mod Podge or varnish for a nice shine.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuJFO-SU64wfXrHZRpF4MOgjsXAUs04H20ZLZHk5jTPUW-Fnn9h8PCEthMjeNnyYA7kATGXyA_85OEqaLyafSasRrXwM7c4enJNOLP85tTuzGFP0YinGxiuwk3v2f8_Xb0R3WjaLjMOS0/s1600/DSC01880.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1269" data-original-width="1119" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuJFO-SU64wfXrHZRpF4MOgjsXAUs04H20ZLZHk5jTPUW-Fnn9h8PCEthMjeNnyYA7kATGXyA_85OEqaLyafSasRrXwM7c4enJNOLP85tTuzGFP0YinGxiuwk3v2f8_Xb0R3WjaLjMOS0/s400/DSC01880.JPG" width="352" /></a></div>
Step 3 . I added some white mini pebbles to the right hand top corner and some plants to the open space at the left. I used bits of plastic plants, and model rail road moss.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZAEy96zNvpoAAV_WA13TXcKG6ZWLI6GIPwN2j0t46_D48vBRGjvsR96yw6cIRtitTjPrMhkcGs6t8D3TQ3O4JfFW7WmEOSz5n4iqN3-IfvFyuu3tAo5L5zzyXjtrr64ncXjSJfglTeIc/s1600/DSC01895.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="908" data-original-width="1429" height="253" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZAEy96zNvpoAAV_WA13TXcKG6ZWLI6GIPwN2j0t46_D48vBRGjvsR96yw6cIRtitTjPrMhkcGs6t8D3TQ3O4JfFW7WmEOSz5n4iqN3-IfvFyuu3tAo5L5zzyXjtrr64ncXjSJfglTeIc/s400/DSC01895.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Step 4 . Added a little hint of pink paint to the pebbles and added some tiny bits of the green stuff to them to make them look more interesting.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNOoJYaanGNVoXZ4LSB8PjkJp0GHAIIEbmOPvVQIIvFEf4yH-rFTQA66FoossZGtZaYzAJlB1jsgA4eehgwPjrqnBjvcJcmS4KkRpZQaqnC-o5kdr1XzN7Hhyphenhyphen0aqXpZ-P5uOkQ3VAhPS4/s1600/DSC01931.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="871" data-original-width="1121" height="496" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNOoJYaanGNVoXZ4LSB8PjkJp0GHAIIEbmOPvVQIIvFEf4yH-rFTQA66FoossZGtZaYzAJlB1jsgA4eehgwPjrqnBjvcJcmS4KkRpZQaqnC-o5kdr1XzN7Hhyphenhyphen0aqXpZ-P5uOkQ3VAhPS4/s640/DSC01931.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Now for the landscape in the lid. I printed 4 copies of the photo I found on line ( Passport photo size) . One copy was cut to fit inside the lid and glued in place with Mod Podge.<br />
<br />
I cut out the pergola with the flowers twice and also the chairs and table in the front. I know the chairs are not very visible but they do add some depth to the whole thing. I added double sided foam tape to the back of the pergola cuttings and layered them on top of the pergola in the lid.<br />
<br />
I used one of the set of chairs and table to do the same thing. From the second part I only used the backs of the chairs so they would stand out more.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0PWwhMNRJ_1FoBIu5KsW7JjmqTjc8v3pHODr9Pjtzrpy9VZsCPwtgSuRmMpBDu6_aY3_GMT5EG0BWAPr-GEZadnndQ6P2m5SpY6781sALr-4NmQJUJALuULQcH7yA7W_zWGDv48anpiU/s1600/DSC01938.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="913" data-original-width="1017" height="572" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0PWwhMNRJ_1FoBIu5KsW7JjmqTjc8v3pHODr9Pjtzrpy9VZsCPwtgSuRmMpBDu6_aY3_GMT5EG0BWAPr-GEZadnndQ6P2m5SpY6781sALr-4NmQJUJALuULQcH7yA7W_zWGDv48anpiU/s640/DSC01938.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
Added some green moss like stuff ( in the bag on the right of the photo available at Minikitz .com) add some details to the landscape. I also used flower foam to make the flowers stand out more. I just glued it on top of the flowers in the picture.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUegvcyRBjg5vgW4nUTcAtw-v_i1j6wUPvRCht0PSrEV-0B4IBUpJdnZ7tZxulEP6kRCN2s8Af_HFhHgjMRfZ4qKZ-mhHeTWRC1JUqhBRhUw_KQkLoUY8k6FTg57_A-N7U4_zqXaM-jUs/s1600/DSC01943.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1076" data-original-width="1166" height="590" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUegvcyRBjg5vgW4nUTcAtw-v_i1j6wUPvRCht0PSrEV-0B4IBUpJdnZ7tZxulEP6kRCN2s8Af_HFhHgjMRfZ4qKZ-mhHeTWRC1JUqhBRhUw_KQkLoUY8k6FTg57_A-N7U4_zqXaM-jUs/s640/DSC01943.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Finishing touch were some bits of flower foam in various colors to give the idea of flowers and some gravel to create a little path to the beach.<br />
<br />
Had a lot of fun creating this little holiday for me. Hope it will inspire you too.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Use some green paint ( I used my watercolors) to add a bit of a moss effect to your tree bark base.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also added some green fluffy bits.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used a lot of different bits of greenery for this project. I always find the most intersting ones at http://www.minikitz.com/</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
They have stuff that looks like tiny plants and grasses, stretchy vine which is great to make trees with and lots more.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I used some very fine dried twigs to make the tree with. You can replace this with fine wire twisted together and painted.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Poked a little hole in the bark base and planted the tree.<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I little bit of the stretchy vine material ( see above) made lovely greenery for the tree. Just lightly glue on top of the basic tree.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Decorated the base with some mini gravel and some flower foam and more greenery in different shades of green.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
In the end I used a different bottle cap for the dome. Here is the final version .</div>

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjCKoAhhP_DrODERqcFacgNxv6b5LMfdPXa_rjPqVqIpRt3Yto8ibADTLstZcjWUMdK35a3BmzxJggxC236JimpfRI-fqQNz5bPF3hZgIxdZmOzU_k91leBzgUZxTAesze-UXo9ckcPOM/s1600/DSC01257.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1381" data-original-width="1600" height="552" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjCKoAhhP_DrODERqcFacgNxv6b5LMfdPXa_rjPqVqIpRt3Yto8ibADTLstZcjWUMdK35a3BmzxJggxC236JimpfRI-fqQNz5bPF3hZgIxdZmOzU_k91leBzgUZxTAesze-UXo9ckcPOM/s640/DSC01257.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I made this crochet bear and I wanted to have a little background for him so he could sit on my bookshelf and look nice. Had no time to do anything fancy so this is what I came up with :<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFbqF5XF-rLP1oDYFVl0SjJ5yirN4Ta3vD2Bxh4XJtDb18pnHzy6-g1R0-i8FxU8R68Ajy0FJuywCxfPiVwDAj9bFuzSw1IWBWTtc2HeuUa-LdF9OTzSYzqo8n-inpvM6iwslg0CK4pWo/s1600/DSC01270.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFbqF5XF-rLP1oDYFVl0SjJ5yirN4Ta3vD2Bxh4XJtDb18pnHzy6-g1R0-i8FxU8R68Ajy0FJuywCxfPiVwDAj9bFuzSw1IWBWTtc2HeuUa-LdF9OTzSYzqo8n-inpvM6iwslg0CK4pWo/s320/DSC01270.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
This is a little screen kit that I found at Action's ( the nearest thing to a dollar shop we have in the Netherlands). It is wood and it comes with cut outs to decorate it and even the ribbon and the paint.<br />
<br />
I did not like the pics that came with it but I had some ready made 3 D stickers from another shop that had a garden theme .<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRTxLkxZZyHxWHNr1hF9rFiUfwC6F74HdMtiNg8-Bp6SlRJ68Xt2LzcGJXTPdjJWJYGTSje3uB5D1VdSymIalquDncd3MIA_gW3xFQF2C_UAnj50O726pDUFCopuWk5huK2odW0VX-lX0/s1600/DSC01275.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1184" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRTxLkxZZyHxWHNr1hF9rFiUfwC6F74HdMtiNg8-Bp6SlRJ68Xt2LzcGJXTPdjJWJYGTSje3uB5D1VdSymIalquDncd3MIA_gW3xFQF2C_UAnj50O726pDUFCopuWk5huK2odW0VX-lX0/s320/DSC01275.JPG" width="236" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is a similar set to the one I used. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2br-hCSFaR-UnmjTh73PSIXLhv4DAkNkk6yVdHhOOjR0XXhpmftI4Qr5-u8AA_u_HUkwF_RQX_RPTHH40fwZjplAy3VPVYJtojxb90cAlAzLBt-tk9qgcd70gr_mX45PAMXQ3D1dTK3U/s1600/DSC01272.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1266" data-original-width="1600" height="316" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2br-hCSFaR-UnmjTh73PSIXLhv4DAkNkk6yVdHhOOjR0XXhpmftI4Qr5-u8AA_u_HUkwF_RQX_RPTHH40fwZjplAy3VPVYJtojxb90cAlAzLBt-tk9qgcd70gr_mX45PAMXQ3D1dTK3U/s400/DSC01272.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Stickers glued to the wood. They did not stick very well ( there is foam at the back) but that is great for they will be easy to remove and I can use the screen and the stickers for something else later. You will find stickers like that at places that sell items for scrapbooking or cardmaking. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHwWwphyphenhyphenNtdgejlAuwKe1114iGh7FEfhHe-9oBtlinhqh6FVgG8s8MtylecFnfLYVu0q-AfFJianwI9oSWlsPMUvaGMm8fISNb96NbMSVILln9Ce-bl0oIPZbMG8EtcuDvXUIcTCZUGe8/s1600/2017-07-04.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHwWwphyphenhyphenNtdgejlAuwKe1114iGh7FEfhHe-9oBtlinhqh6FVgG8s8MtylecFnfLYVu0q-AfFJianwI9oSWlsPMUvaGMm8fISNb96NbMSVILln9Ce-bl0oIPZbMG8EtcuDvXUIcTCZUGe8/s320/2017-07-04.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here are some pics of the bear I used.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Added a little bench and a box tree that I had in my stash and I am pretty pleased with how it looks.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You can ofcourse do this as a permanent thing and add a floor and do much better on the paintwork and the decorations . I just wanted to show that a few cheap items, about 5 mins are enough for some mini fun.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: "times new roman" , "serif"; font-size: 14.0pt;">Petit
fours are usually covered in fondant , icing or chocolate in white or pastels.
White erasors are brilliant for making petit fours with. The ones you find on
the top of pencils are the right size. If you can find pencils with colored
erasers they are brilliant too.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<span style="font-family: "times new roman" , "serif"; font-size: 14.0pt;"> I also found erasers that are the same shape but in longer
lengths. They come in small boxes and are made in Japan. If you can find them
they are totally awesome for they come in lots of colors. I found mine on
Ebay.com There are also little boxes of these erasers in kits with stationary for kids. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="font-family: "times new roman" , "serif"; font-size: 14.0pt;">Cut the
erasers just above the metal ring on the pencils. If you like smaller petit
fours you can cut them smaller or slice them in half like I did for the ones on the white plate.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<span style="font-family: "times new roman" , "serif"; font-size: 14.0pt;">To get a
nice chocolate coating do what a real baker does and do dip your petit fours
into chocolate ( paint) instead of painting them. Use the pin as a handle and
the clothes pins as stands to keep them standing while drying. If a drop of
paint forms at the bottom of the petit four, wipe it away carefully before it
dries. If you are happy with the chocolate coating you
can move on to the decorating part if not just repeat the chocolate dipping
till you are happy with the result.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<span style="font-family: "times new roman" , "serif"; font-size: 14.0pt;">There is
tons and tons of decorating options for these little cakes. A lot of fun are
seeds from sweet bell peppers. Just save the seeds and dry them whenever you
use a bell pepper in cooking.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<span style="font-family: "times new roman" , "serif"; font-size: 14.0pt;">There are
several ways to create nuts for your decorating. Model train shops often sell little bags of
very fine gravel. Another option is making your own by using a cork and a
nutmeg grinder. A white eraser given the same treatment makes lovely dried
coconut. Mustard seeds make great nuts
or chocolates depending on the color.
Bags of flower foam offer tons of possibilities. The smallest bits of
green make great chopped pistachio nuts. Other colors of the foam look splendid
on different colors of petit fours. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<span style="font-family: "times new roman" , "serif"; font-size: 14.0pt;">Decorations
can be glued on with Tacky glue. Start with the nuts or coconut and do not use
too much, just a little looks best. Pepper seeds, mustard seeds and flowers
make great final touches. Once again do try your own variations using different
colors and different types of paint etc.<o:p></o:p></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "times new roman" , "serif"; font-size: 14.0pt;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "times new roman" , "serif"; font-size: 14.0pt;">You can buy colored erasers to make different colors of petit fours or paint them.</span></div>

I just love the Brambly Hedge books and wanted to do a scene inspired by them. I made this one using 3 D techniques in paper and combined them with real furniture and food to make a picture from the book come alive.<br />

http://herminiverse.blogspot.nl/2014/10/no-calory-crochet-cherry-pie.html This link will take you to my first post about pie crocheting. If you want to make the peach pie slice , you will need this post for the pattern of the pie crust and the cream swirl. You can make different fruit fillings using this pattern by changing the color of your thread and using different stitches.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16325906134420411054noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2610216208347483126.post-72928390334580834172017-04-01T01:52:00.000-07:002017-04-01T01:52:15.053-07:00Dressing tiny dolls the easy wayI had these little dolls , just the right size for toys, and they needed some clothes. I did make crochet dresses for some but I wanted to have some boys as well. I did not feel like doing the tiny pants and so I was really pleased when I found a bag of unravelled bunca and remembered the wrap and glue thing I had done on bigger dolls.<br />
<br />
It really works on these tiny dolls as well. Here is how I did it.<br />

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEf32xIawFw8-pRQgZxQx73lRgS227a6y_NetiZg1_h3l5cck6_kuPN4latwAHVx4f-KU4-SJT_H6b4a__PW6EDW8N4xNPnJRcOWF7bGnLchkZqwusFTElAO4BE6yqe2LJeWE1exX_M2A/s1600/DSC00006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEf32xIawFw8-pRQgZxQx73lRgS227a6y_NetiZg1_h3l5cck6_kuPN4latwAHVx4f-KU4-SJT_H6b4a__PW6EDW8N4xNPnJRcOWF7bGnLchkZqwusFTElAO4BE6yqe2LJeWE1exX_M2A/s320/DSC00006.JPG" width="298" /></a></div>
Materials matter a great deal :<br />
<br />
There are several types of chenille stems or pipe cleaners you can use :<br />
<br />
Real pipecleaners that are white and rather thin and made out of cotton. They are short so you need several per critter. This bunny was made using those. The wire does not show much when you bend the stems so it is easy to hide the bare spots with some cut off fur. They are perfect for critters that are small like 1 inch tall.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQXiLsTPFixjgA47ZWh5Ze8B51UxpQmHfOTq8JLyyuWIvihC-3ksK16EDHxk5hhSycYzGvbv4EEnap6fep2XTkz-qdeTy4lQ-3thel-Ld4E-SEBcElbRiNYgzlED7oLQRQt7L-sXevENw/s1600/Chenille.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="333" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQXiLsTPFixjgA47ZWh5Ze8B51UxpQmHfOTq8JLyyuWIvihC-3ksK16EDHxk5hhSycYzGvbv4EEnap6fep2XTkz-qdeTy4lQ-3thel-Ld4E-SEBcElbRiNYgzlED7oLQRQt7L-sXevENw/s400/Chenille.jpg" width="400" /></a><br />
This is the second kind. They are made of the same material as the pipe cleaners but they are called cotton chenille stems. They are thicker and come in different colors as well. They are a bit harder to find though. You can find even thicker versions of this kind. You will still need to hide some wire though. These are perfect for a bear that is more fluffy or a bit bigger.<br />
<br />
This bear was made with the really thick ones.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzJOwUGPcvXsKXJABjCHYWjdJxyA51aSYZ1JVN6tjtge2VeqbipVnNf6d-V3M0KGKzKA4jtu1XWfk4Nt3le3S06HVlYef8aNuzkVXFSlM9GNwZtnWX_xNJ1Jf_qb50vLG81r53LeApMaE/s1600/DSC00040.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="333" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzJOwUGPcvXsKXJABjCHYWjdJxyA51aSYZ1JVN6tjtge2VeqbipVnNf6d-V3M0KGKzKA4jtu1XWfk4Nt3le3S06HVlYef8aNuzkVXFSlM9GNwZtnWX_xNJ1Jf_qb50vLG81r53LeApMaE/s400/DSC00040.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9I8zf6G9KSNUDE7EY7o3dszIHrhJBDqdxXXbaKhL4UwUMKx0KxoQtePXZYkSlvKJ__pi6smO5ScoCaZQ9zGppKtvJTaYv_L0-z81DWLeFRpE0yc0iWMT3Eh15H6XnBNZ5P0KVzDoDMy8/s1600/DSC00041.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9I8zf6G9KSNUDE7EY7o3dszIHrhJBDqdxXXbaKhL4UwUMKx0KxoQtePXZYkSlvKJ__pi6smO5ScoCaZQ9zGppKtvJTaYv_L0-z81DWLeFRpE0yc0iWMT3Eh15H6XnBNZ5P0KVzDoDMy8/s640/DSC00041.JPG" width="427" /></a></div>
This bear was made with the chenille stems you can buy at the craft store. You will see he is more skinny than the pipe cleaner type of bear. You have to look for the stems that show no wire when they are in the package for those are the best ones. But you will still have to cut and glue quite a bit to hide the wires when you want to use this type of chenille. There are tons of different thicknesses and colors and stuff so experimenting is the key.<br />
<br />
<br />
Arms and legs will look a whole lot better when you work a bit on the loops you made for them. If you squeeze the loops together after the bear shape is completed they will look a lot neater. You can also twist them around to improve the shape but that has to be done with great care or you will get ribbed and lumpy results.<br />
<br />
Give your bear a look over and see if there are any spots where you see wire and hide that by gluing on some fur that you cut off the left over stems. Leave to dry well before you handle the bear again.<br />
<br />
A hair cut will often improve your bear too. If you use tiny scissors you can easily improve the shape of his ears or add some more expression by trimming the nose.<br />
<br />
<img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjV5sZdzRazwIiIxlNtLZSghu3q3-X3xqjpZbr6rpIk57HvoyDdc1QUQO1r7i869O8vugspg-tjwLtp0Ir2AfU_ByofG2AlTW1MOUdpkjglOpv44OoBUi8d2PexP-lJyS0vzKGZWUbSGYU/s640/SAM_1950.JPG" /><br />
In this picture you can see the hairs on top of the ears that need a bit of trimming as well as the nose area.<br />
<br />
Eyes are the the next thing. It is pretty hard to find perfectly round beads for the eyes. I use handmade onyx beads for mine that I cut in half. Half beads are easier to glue to the face and you can sort of press them into the fur for a better look. Cutting the beads can be done by pressing them with tweezers . Round beads make all the difference, they give a more professional look.<br />
<br />
Embroidering a nose on the chenille is not easy. At least not easy to get it really neat. I usually glue on a nose and forget about the embroidery bit.<br />
<br />
If you want paw pads you can glue on a piece of non fray fabric and use pastels to color them in. It also is nice to add some to the inside of the ears. This will add more character to your bear.<br />
<br />
Every bear you make will be different and everyone 's bears will be different. I often find they have a mind of their own and will become what they want to be which is often quite different from what I had in mind. But always better. Have fun !<br />
